More than 100 Volunteers Help Remove Sandbags

On Saturday, July 19, more than 100 volunteers helped remove sandbags from the Normandy Drive neighborhood of Iowa City. Volunteers from Iowa City to Chicago worked throughout the morning and early afternoon to dispose of sandbags surrounding area homes or lined up along the Iowa River near City Park.

We would like to thank Jimmy John's, Quiznos, and Blackstone (all of Iowa City) for donating lunches. Our hungry volunteers appreciated the gesture.

Though we made progress last weekend, there is still a great deal of work left to be done. Those interested in volunteering this Saturday, July 26, can call our United Way of Johnson County Volunteer Center at 319-337-8657 or e-mail us here.
