Volunteers Needed for Sandbag Removal Event

The United Way Volunteer Center of Johnson County is helping organize a sandbag removal event for this Friday and Saturday, July 18 and 19. The event, scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM and end at 3:00 PM on both days, will require the assistance of volunteers from the community. Those interested in volunteering can come to the corner of Normandy and Manor Drive in Iowa City to receive their work assignments. (Please refer to the map at the end of this post for directions).

Because duties will include removal and disposal of sandbags from floodwalls, volunteers are asked to wear work clothes, study shoes, and bring gloves for extra protection. On-site snacks and water will also be provided.

If you're interested in volunteering, please contact our United Way Volunteer Center between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday-Friday at 319-338-7823.
